SINGAPORE — The spanking new Cathay Cineplex Jem promises to give audiences an epic experience at the movies.

The latest gem in the film distributor and exhibitor’s crown officially opens its doors today, and it comes with all the bells and whistles. It boasts the debut of Digital Xtreme, an exclusive cinema class where movies are showcased on an extra-large wall-to-wall cinema screen measuring 13.6m by 7.3m enhanced with state-of-the-art Dolby Atmos sound technology that gives audiences the most life-like digital auditory experience.

With the largest movie screen in the heartlands (for Cathay cinemas), film lovers can enjoy blockbusters such as The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug, I, Frankenstein and Rio 2 in cinematic mind-blowing fashion over the next few months.

With 10 screens, 1,600 seats and Digital Xtreme, Cathay Cineplex Jem is also the biggest multiplex in Singapore’s west side and Cathay’s first certified green cinema multiplex, featuring energy-efficient devices, recycling receptacles and eco-friendly products such as ticket stubs, food containers, cutlery and napkins.

Couples will be glad to know that movie date nights will be made all the more special with Ultima seats — branded the best couple seats in the house.

Jem concludes a year-long expansion for Cathay Cineplexes, that sees a 46 per cent increase in its number of screens. Cathay Cineplexes boasts a total of 60 screens across seven locations islandwide.
