SINGAPORE - Hong Kong actor Simon Yam is known for playing a wide variety of roles, from a justice-seeking inspector in movies like Naked Killer and Kill Zone, to a fearless mob boss in movies like Election and Exiled. This time, in his latest thriller movie, -197°C Murder, this 58-year-old veteran supermodel-turned-actor plays Inspector Wayne, who investigates a mysterious series of murders, leading him to a mutual friend of the two victims, Jeana, played by multi-talented singer, model and actress, Vivian Hsu.

The mysterious murders involve two young and rich women who have been kidnapped and brutally killed with a deadly weapon that freezes the victims’ insides while their outer appearances are left untouched. And if that’s not cringe-worthy enough, the murderer creepily exhibits his victims in various public locations dressed in costumes.

Everything about the movie, from its fast-paced storyline to even the tiniest details hinting that the murderer is closer than you think, is done to make you go “Oh, I didn’t see that coming”, leaving me quite thrilled at every twist and turn of the plot.

Better still, just when you think the case is closed, something crops up to turn everything upside-down and inside-out.
