Yes, trying to figure out who’s behind the mysterious voice controlling main lead Daniel Wu can be quite absorbing. But you also find yourself questioning just how realistic everything is — like how powerful The Voice would have to be to blackmail and control not just one but a few other people to do its every bidding. Not to mention a major loophole in the very plot twist itself.
Then again, sometimes you don’t really watch a “blockbuster” film for the story. If I were you, I would leave my brain at the door and simply enjoy all of Control’s epic heart-pumping shootouts. To be fair, for all its implausibility, it does have an interesting plot and it actually quite thrilling, if not for the CGI, which ultimately killed it for me.
