Shock turned to happy tears when her name was announced, and she accepted her trophy on stage with a tearful speech, thanking her director Anthony Chen and mentor Kuo Pao Kun among others. She also thanked her husband and her little baby girl, who she was pregnant with during the filming.
“I’m ecstatic about winning the award! I feel like I’m in dreamland right now,” Yeo told TODAY over the phone. “It’s not real. It’s so unreal right now! It’s like … Oh I’m still very excited and I’m speechless!”
Chen, who Yeo hugged before she went up on stage, was overjoyed for his actress.
“ I can't be more pleased. I'm so proud of her!” he told TODAY over the phone after her win. “She deserves it so much and I hope the award helps her open more doors and climb greater heights.
"She left a lipstick mark on my cheek!”
