SINGAPORE — After making a splashy debut last year with acts such as Nouvelle Vague, Damien Rice, Rachel Yamagata and Mercury Rev, organisers for the music and arts festival returning to Fort Canning in November has unveiled 17 more names.
They include Canadian indie-electro pair Crystal Castles, Swedish hipster hero Jose Gonzalez, hip-hop pioneers from New York The Sugarhill Gang and the godfather of funk George Clinton joining headliners Foals and Sigur Ros.

The festival will also see up and coming acts such as England’s Shura and Blood Orange (aka Dev Hynes, who has produced for Florence & the Machine amongst others). The local scene is represented with Gentle Bones, who held two sellout concerts at the Esplanade last month, as well as bands Cashew Chemists and Disco Hues.

“We feel we are upping the ante with the range and quality of music acts in this year’s festival, with a strong mix of international acts alongside the best new stars from the Singaporean indie scene,” said Neon Lights festival director Declan Forde, adding that more music acts and the entertainment options available will be announced down the road in September.

Last year’s Neon Lights drew a crowd of more than 10,000 over two days, with many coming from around the region. Early bird tickets priced from S$120 are still available. Log on to http://www.neonlights.sg/
