So concert promoter LAMC Productions has announced the details for the very first Guns and Roses gig, scheduled for Feb 25, 2017, this morning at 8am. This piece of news is a much-awaited one for many die-hard rockers and ‘90s nostalgia lovers who’ve longed for a GNR reunion to see Axl Rose and the entire gang belt out hits such as November Rain and Sweet Child of Mine.

If Guns 'N Roses can reunite and make it down to this little red dot, who’s to say that we will not get to see other other big acts from that era eventually making it down here in their lifetime, right?

Here is our wish-list of four other musicial acts, who have pretty much helped define the 90s music scene, which we hope to see someday, somehow in Singapore. Concert promoters, we’re counting on you.

1. Radiohead

There was no angsty tween in the 1990s who did not identiy with the lyrics of Radiohead's existentialist anthem Creep. We wished we were special, and Radiohead spoke to us intimately about feeling High and Dry and the Fake Plastic Trees in our lives. Perhaps what made the band more fascinating was the fact they were ahead of their time (they launched their 2007 album In Rainbows with a pay-as you-want policy), refused to be understood and are constantly surprising the industry. Alas, it is probably unlikely that the band would come to Singapore as front man Thom Yorke is known to take his politics seriously, and he is against the death penalty.

2. Spice Girls

We’ll tell you what we want, what we really, really want. We wanna, we wanna, we wanna hear this song, Wannabe, sung live by Ginger, Posh, Sporty, Scary and Baby. Three of the Spice Girls - Geri Halliwell (Ginger), Emma Bunton (Baby) and Mel B (Scary)  have reunited for the 20th anniversary of the girl group recently, but Mel C and Victoria Beckham have chosen to sit out. The closest they got to reuniting was a special performance for the closing of the London Olympics in 2012. Even they might not be able to prance around as much - much lest strut around in platform shoes - it would still be a wonderful kick and trip down memory’s lane to see them together. Say You’ll Be There.

3. U2

Similar to Radiohead’s Thom Yoke, U2’s Bono is an activist who would probably give Singapore a miss. The Irish band has never performed in a southeast Asian nation despite having a strong tour record - 15 worldwide tours and counting. But one can dream of hearing U2’s stirring anthems. One, Walk On, Sunday Bloody Sunday, Elevation ... So strong is the support for the band that many hardcore fans here have flown overseas just to see the band.

4. Nirvana

We will always rue the fact that one of the greatest bands of all time was denied a permit to perform in Singapore when they were here in 1992 to promote the Nevermind album. We know, we know. Kurt Cobain is not around any more. But hey, if Jay Chou managed to get the late Teresa Teng to appear with the help of virtual technology for his Opus tour in 2013, we’re sure something can be done to have Cobain on stage with Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic. Still smells like teen spirit, doesn’t it?
