SINGAPORE — Next month, Karen Mok will be holding her first concert in Singapore in 15 years.
And even though the Hong Kong singer, who is known for her sultry vocals and provocative stage performances, is now married with three stepchildren, she sees no reason to become more conservative.
Speaking to the media via video conference from Hong Kong, Mok assured her fans that she has never changed her ideals as a performer, and will wear whatever she feels works best onstage. In her upcoming Regardez concert for instance, she will be wearing costumes tailored by designers hailing from Taiwan, France, Indonesia and Hong Kong.
“Besides, my husband loves watching me dress like that, too,” the affable singer chuckled.
In addition to her signature bold costumes, Mok’s concert will also feature special staging and lighting effects, as she attempts to recreate the Northern Lights using 1,000 laser lights. The 45-year-old singer will also sing some of the greatest hits from her two-decade career, as well as hits from her latest album, Departures.
“It’s been so many years since I’ve held a concert in Singapore, so I hope we will all be able to sing together,” said Mok, who is also the concert director for her own show. “And my fans don’t have to behave themselves either, because I am very exuberant, and those who come for my shows have to be exuberant as well.”
Karen Mok’s concert will be held on April 9 at The Star Theatre. Tickets from S$88 to S$188 are available from SISTIC.
