SINGAPORE — Known for her roles in popular Taiwanese dramas such as Hi My Sweetheart, Devil Beside You and Drunken To Love You, Rainie Yang claims she hasn’t stopped acting to focus on her singing.
“It’s because the scripts have been terrible!” the 30-year-old singer-actress quipped at a press conference for her latest Mandopop album, A Tale Of Two Rainie, at Hotel Intercontinental Singapore. “It’s not their problem, it’s mine! I was very ambitious in the past — I did many shows and I tried to be creative with the roles that I got. But now, I would rather choose roles that are more realistic. There might be more of such roles in movies, but there aren’t that many in television.”
She continued: “Not every script I get is bad. Of course, I get some that are terrible and I have given feedback (to their producers). But there are also good scripts that are similar to the shows I’ve starred in before. And I don’t want to let my fans down by repeating the projects I’ve done before, whether it’s in acting or in singing.”
Rainie Yang will hold her mini-concert tomorrow, March 21, 6pm, at Shanghai Dolly. She will also hold an autograph session on Sunday, March 22, 3pm, at Compass Point.
