Nate Tao (Nate Tao) | 3/5
SINGAPORE - Fans were disappointed at Taiwanese-American singer Nate Tao’s quick departure from American Idol early this year, but now they have something to cheer about. Tao’s self-titled EP features five tracks, all recorded right here in Singapore. Thanks to Tao’s unassuming exterior, one might be pleasantly surprised at his first track, Sugar And Spice, which starts off strong, showing off his uniquely clean and wide vocal range. While Calling Me Home reminds one of former American Idol alum Clay Aiken’s ballads, the track that truly highlights Tao’s singing abilities is Fly, wherein he shows how effortlessly high his falsetto can go. Couple with the easy-listening Sooner and The Greatest Thing, this self-titled EP is surely worth looking out for.
