MediaCorp picks up three awards at first night of Asian Television Awards

SINGAPORE – MediaCorp yesterday clinched three awards at the Asian Television Awards (ATA).

SINGAPORE – MediaCorp yesterday clinched three awards at the Asian Television Awards (ATA).

These included awards for Best Documentary Programme (One-Off/Special) for Channel NewsAsia’s Danger Zone: Kabul and the Best Social Awareness Programme award for Channel NewsAsia’s programme Little People, Big Dreams.

Meanwhile, Singaporean songwriter Jim Lim also picked up the Best Theme Song prize for writing the song Kuai Bie Shu (Farewell Book) for Channel 8’s blockbuster drama, The Journey: Tumultuous Times.

A total of 28 awards were presented during the first of the two-night awards show, which was held at Suntec City. The prestigious award for Outstanding Contribution to Asian Television was presented to Liu Changle, chairman and CEO of Phoenix Satellite Television for his contributions to the broadcast and television industry.

The ATA will continue this evening, with performances by international stars including Korean girl group Secret, Indonesia’s Anggun, Mandopop singer Jeff Chang and Swedish boyband JTR. For the first time in its 20-year history, the show will be broadcast live on Astro Ria, Astro Ria HD, Bugaboo.tv, LeTV, Media Channel, Toggle and Tonton.
