SINGAPORE - Don’t be surprised if you don’t see MediaCorp actress Tiffany Leong on-screen any time soon. The Code Of Honour actress is taking some time away from work commitments to focus on her health.

After feeling discomfort for two months, Leong went for a check-up and was diagnosed with a hereditary disorder called MEN syndrome, or multiple endocrine neoplasia, which encompasses several distinct syndromes presenting with tumours of endocrine glands, each with its own characteristic pattern.

(Last year, Leong’s mother was also diagnosed with the same disorder and needed emergency treatment and surgery.) To prevent the growth of the tumours, Leong will have to stop working, and prepare for surgery and treatment soon.

In a press statement, Leong said: “To all my friends, media, business partners and fans, I temporarily will not be able to do any activities and performances. However, do not be worried. Even though I know that the future will be tough, I will fight this war bravely.

“I cannot deny that when I first heard the news, I had negative thoughts, but after some time passed, and I received some counselling, I will take it one step at a time because I know I have to do it for everyone and put up a good show for you.

“I know I have a lot of people who love me and I will not disappoint them. I hope to be back to shoot a good drama for you as soon as possible after the temporary break from TV.”
