Get ready for Oktoberfest Asia

SINGAPORE — The beers are refrigerated, the bratwursts ready-to-go, and there is even a former German national footballer set to kick off Oktoberfest Asia at the Keppel Island Plaza from Oct 16 to 19.

SINGAPORE — The beers are refrigerated, the bratwursts ready-to-go, and there is even a former German national footballer set to kick off Oktoberfest Asia at the Keppel Island Plaza from Oct 16 to 19.

Yes, Dietmar Hamann, who also used to play with English clubs Liverpool and Manchester City, will be gracing the event for all four nights; there’s even a meet-and-greet autograph session that fans would appreciate.

Oktoberfest Asia, dubbed as the first Bavarian festival in Singapore (“an atmosphere and decoration enjoyed in Munich but a party in Asia” runs the tagline), you can expect a spread of traditional gourmet cuisine such as schweinshaxe (pork knuckles), bratwurst mit sauerkraut, as well as German beer and liquor from the likes of Spaten, Paulaner Brauhaus, Schneider Weisse and Weishenstephan.

Entertainment comes in the form of German band, The Original Hofbrauhaus Show, local comedy act, The Comedy Pimp, and Singapore’s most explosive percussion band, Wicked Aura. Kimberly Fong

Oktoberfest Asia happens from Oct 16 to 19, at Keppel Island Plaza. Tickets at S$85 (weekdays) and S$95 (weekends) from Sistic.
