SINGAPORE — Following much buzz among the island’s foodies about possible restaurant entries, organisers have confirmed that the highly anticipated Michelin Guide Singapore — the first Michelin food guide to be published in the South-east Asia region — will hit the stands on July 22.
The news was announced at a press conference on Wednesday (June 1). Robert Parker Wine Advocate (RobertParker.com) and the Singapore Tourism Board are collaborating to launch the guide, which will be available in English and simplified Mandarin editions at an awards ceremony cum gala dinner held at Resorts World Sentosa on July 21.
The ceremony will see the presentation of stars to restaurants in Singapore for the year 2016. The gala event will also be open to the public for the first time — making Singapore the first to do so — to allow food lovers to attend and get up close with the chefs of the newly-minted Michelin-starred restaurants. Limited to 500 seats, guests will be the first to learn of the 1, 2 and 3 starred restaurants.
They will also get a dinner prepared by celebrity chef Joel Robuchon collaborating with “promising local chefs who are award-winners”, as part of the event.
Tickets for the gala dinner can be purchased at S$450++ per seat on guide.michelin.sg. You can also pre-order the Michelin guide Singapore 2016 on the same website. The guide is priced at S$39.95 and includes a 15-month free log in on wine website RobertParker.com as well as free delivery of the guide by July 23 within Singapore.
