SINGAPORE — The next time you have guests coming over to Singapore on an early flight and their hotel room won’t be ready until 2pm, direct them to Jet Quay’s new lounge, called The Haven.
Officially opened last Friday and located in the arrival hall of Changi Airport’s Terminal 3, the 558-square metre space is the first pay-per-use landside lounge in Changi. And the good news for travellers is that it’s equipped with a host of amenities, including 18 nap rooms (several of which are connecting — great if you’re travelling with kids and family members), 13 shower rooms, an F&B area and even a dedicated space for children to play. Of course, there’s Wi-Fi, LAN points, magazines and cable TV available as well.
Barry D Nassber, Group Chief Operating Officer of Worldwide Flight Services, which operates JetQuay, anticipates that the lounge will be attractive especially for travellers who arrive into Singapore on long-haul flights.
“There are a lot of long haul flights arriving in the morning with business travellers who need to go straight to meetings. As hotels are only available mid-day, they can come to a facility like this and get ready,” explained Nassber.
Even travellers departing can check into The Haven for a few hours. “With the advent of low-cost carriers which might not offer early check-in and you have to leave your hotel in the afternoons what are you going to do if your flight leaves at 3am?” elaborated Nasser. “Over here, checking in is short and sweet instead of a whole procedure involved checking into an airport hotel.”
Travellers can make advance reservations for the Nap Rooms and lounge on its website (www.thehaven.com.sg). Business travellers can also book the two meeting rooms within the lounge if they wish to. Rates start from $30++ for use of the lounge for two hours and the rates are inclusive of shower, a hot meal and use of facilities. Nap rooms are priced at S$50++ for a maximum of three hours.
