FOC SENTOSA

(110 TANJONG BEACH WALK, SENTOSA, TEL: 6100 1102)

This popular Spanish restaurant has extended its reach with an all-new restaurant and bar lounge inspired by Barcelona’s world-famous beach culture. In line with the island’s laid-back charm, FOC Sentosa transforms from a relaxing morning hangout into a hot Mediterranean lunch spot and a vibrant gastronomic getaway come night-time. The menu at this two-storey destination, located at the east end of Palawan Beach, is a combination of tapas, paellas, large-format grilled meats and seafood, paired with summery drinks. Think King Crab Cannelloni with a fresh Mediterranean twist, or a unique cod fish and spinach Caldoso rice dish to share. Different seating configurations cater to various experiences — from beach sunbeds and a spacious pool deck to a breezy al fresco terrace and an indoor bar and restaurant to escape the heat.

COASTES

(50 SILOSO BEACH WALK, SINGAPORE 099000,
TEL: 6631 8938)

So this is not the newest kid on the island, but it is one of the few places that families adore — especially if you have a furkid in tow. The newly renovated beach bar is a breezy hangout by day, but also offers an equally hearty dinner alternative come sundown. Breakfast can be a lazy feast, available from 9am to 3pm, while lunch and dinner options include a wide variety, from pastas such as the slipper lobster spaghetti, to seafood classics, such as fish and chips, pan-fried seabass and a seafood stew of prawns, scallops, clams and crayfish in a spicy tomato-based stew. Why, there is even chicken curry if a craving strikes, as well as burgers and barbecue pork ribs.

BABALICIOUS

(1000 EAST COAST PARKWAY, #01-02 MARINA COVE,
TEL: 6636 3681)

Located next to quick-service options such as McDonald’s and Coffee Bean, this family-friendly restaurant serves traditional Peranakan dishes; there is even a specially designed Peranakan-themed kid’s corner as well as a kids menu. Of course, if all you crave is a simple one-dish meal, but do not want to travel to East Coast Lagoon Food Village, you can order Tong Fong Fatt’s chicken rice. Recommended Nyonya dishes include bakwan kepeting, chap chye, ayam buah keluak and inspired seafood offerings such as steamed fish with “Nyonya sauce” and Nyonya crayfish.

FULL PINT MICROBREWERY AND FISH BAR

(920 EAST COAST PARKWAY, #01-20 to 24 PARKLAND GREEN, TEL: 63420203)

There are few things best enjoyed with the view of the ocean than fresh seafood and craft beer, and this relatively new addition to the revamped stretch of the East Coast Park beach specialises in both. Bar bites aside, the a la carte menu covers a full range, from appetisers such as tuna tartare and assorted sashimi, to freshly shucked oysters and seafood salads. For the main course, the cod fish and chips, cereal-crusted salmon and grilled Boston lobster are recommended, while meat lovers can still get their fill with either the baked boneless spring chicken, pork ribs, bourbon-glazed Angus short ribs, or braised Wagyu oxtail. The drinks list is extensive, but craft beer and cocktails are the go-to quenchers.
