SINGAPORE — In conjunction with the release of Disney’s Cinderella here, Walt Disney Studios Singapore has minted a collaboration with the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) and Swarovski Singapore to produce four pieces of Cinderella-inspired dresses. These locally produced dresses were designed by NAFA student Erica Devi Handika, mentored by the vice-dean of NAFA’s Fashion Studies Programmes, Anthony Tan.

Devi took inspiration from the movie’s three iconic characters — Cinderella, Fairy Godmother and Stepmother — and added new design elements, which resulted in four one-of-a kind creations. In line with the SG50 celebrations in Singapore, a highlight of the collaboration is an exclusive SG50 Cinderella-inspired version of the dress.

As seen in the movie, Swarovski created the dazzling bespoke glass slippers in solid crystal and embellished key costumes with more than 1.7 million crystals. In Singapore, the crystal house also sponsored more than 2,000 crystals, which were intricately hand-sewn on to the dresses.

These Disney’s Cinderella-inspired dresses will be on display at 313@Somerset atrium from March 8 to 14 and at Kallang Wave Mall atrium from March 15 to 29.
