SIMNGAPORE — Uniqlo has announced an opening date for the much anticipated store in Orchard Central. The first global flagship store in Southeast Asia will open its doors next month, on Sept 2.
The three-storey store will span 2,700sqm and fans are promised a “new shopping experience” as the space boasts the widest Uniqlo product line-up in the region. Showcasing dark wood floors and black display fixtures, 300 digital displays (making it the largest number anywhere in the world) and a total of 350 in-store mannequins (the same number of the Uniqlo Ginza global flagship store in Tokyo), the new store will boast the concept “U+S and The World” — a nod to the vision of Uniqlo sharing the creativity, style and culture of a new Singapore with the rest of the world.
“Uniqlo Orchard Central will be a unique store for the region,” said Taku Morikawa, Uniqlo’s Southeast Asia chief executive. “With its vibrant creative scene, Singapore is the ideal location for us to showcase our LifeWear concept through the eyes of the local community. We hope that through our work with highly dedicated Singaporean individuals and groups, we will be able to turn this space into a platform where creative ideas can be expressed and shared with others.”
Look out for the opening campaign of Uniqlo Orchard Central, which will transform the hoarding around the store’s construction site into an urban canvas to be filled in by the local community. The opening of the store on Sept 2 will also kick-off a long-term collaboration with members of the local community. This will be shown in a specially dedicated creative space in the store where customers can check out original in-store music from audiovisual collective and independent record label Syndicate, unique video content and exclusive shopping bags by homegrown illustrators EeShuan, John Fan and Mighty Yellow.
Other highlights for the opening include a UT (Uniqlo T-shirt) corner on level one for exclusive UT designs as well as a new Disney Collection City Logo UTs bearing designs such as Mickey Mouse with the iconic Merlion, which will be launched on opening day.
