SINGAPORE — It’s only August but Christmas is already in the air. After the success of the recently concluded Singapore Garden Festival, Gardens By the Bay announced today (Aug 27) it will be holding a Christmas Wonderland from Nov 29 to Jan 1, 2015. The event, which is co-organised by Blue Sky Events, will include light sculptures, a Christmas market and a traditional two centuries-old Dutch Spiegeltent (an elaborate travelling tent decorated with mirrors and stained glass).

The 30 Luminarie light sculptures come from Paulicelli Illuminations International, a family of Italian craftsmen who have been building these sculptures by hand since the 19th century. Adding to the festivities is the Casa Armonia, an illuminated gazebo that will be hosting carolers for 12 days, as well as a market inspired by similar ones in Europe. These will be selling souvenirs, Christmas trinkets, speciality food items and, yes, even mulled wine.

The Gardens will also be putting up Christmas floral displays in the Floral Dome. “We’re very excited about this as it’s a first in South-east Asia,” said Ong Chui Leng, director of programming, Gardens By The Bay. “We hope to start a new tradition with this new and first instalment.”

Admission will be free and more details and activities for Christmas Wonderland will be revealed closer to date so watch this space.
