“This never-before-seen international production that is specially produced for Singapore is a dazzling mix of story, dance and songs,” declared Geert Allaert, founder of Belgium’s Music Hall, which has staged other musical performances such as Peter Pan, The Never Ending Story in the United Kingdom, Singapore, Taipei, Qatar and Dubai.
Q: This is the second time that Music Hall is working with Resorts World Sentosa. What do you enjoy about bringing your shows here?
A: It’s a dream to work in Singapore again ... the theatre and staff are fantastic. A professional and helpful team like the crew there is a huge bonus for us. The public is always receptive to our shows and our performers.
Q: Could you tell us some of the issues of doing a travelling production?
A: There is the logistics of moving everything you need, and also finding what you need to find locally. The show must be designed to be moved internationally from city to city quickly and cost-effectively. Whilst travelling, we face lots of experiences such as cancelled or delayed flights, cast and crew members missing their connecting flights or just people missing the pick-up point at airports. I least enjoy waiting for flights, finding that all the stores are closed and I’ve nothing to do!
Q: Travellers in Singapore aren’t as familiar with Belgium. Which cities would you recommend they visit and why?
A: I live in Menen, a small Flemish town situated on the border between France and Belgium and I enjoy skiing in the Alps. Cities like Bruges, Ghent, Brussels and Antwerp are all beautiful and historic, with a mix of new architecture that should not be missed. Also, they all offer some of the world’s best gastronomy.
Q: What would be your idea of a fairy tale perfect holiday?
A: Gorgeous weather and super-friendly people are a great combination.
Cinderella, A Fairly True Story runs from Dec 10 to Jan 4. Tickets available from SISTIC.
