SINGAPORE - Sang Nila Utama, the Merlion, Bukit Timah, Tangong Pagar — the stories behind these characters and places will be getting the “floral interpretation” in Gardens By The Bay’s latest exhibition, From Tales To Legends: Discover Singapore Stories, which opens on July 31.
More than 8,000 orchids and plants will be used to bring 10 Singapore legends to life as part of Gardens By The Bay’s Jubilee celebrations. The floral displays will be done by award-winning landscape architect Damian Tang.
Aside from flowers, wooden sculptures and structures will be constructed for the show, including a tornado made from banyan tree roots, which rises up 10 metres.
Meanwhile, other SG50 events include a special laser show at the Supertrees, which will be accompanied by music from local composer Bang Wenfu, as well as musicians such as Rani Singam, Benjamin Kheng of The Sam Willows, Nathan Hartono, among others. This will run from Aug 6 to 10.
Gardens By The Bay is also offering 50 per cent off tickets to the Flower Dome and Cloud Forest during the Jubilee weekend from Aug 7 to 10. Senior citizens enjoy free admission to both these conservatories until Aug 31.
CORRECTION: An earlier version of this article reported that a photo exhibition would be held alongside the floral display. This is incorrect. There will not be a photo exhibition held in conjunction with the floral display. We are sorry for the error.
