SINGAPORE — We sure do love Sydney and its surrounds: In the year ending June 2015, it was reported that 109,500 visitors from Singapore stayed 1.5 million nights collectively in New South Wales (NSW), a year-on-year increase of more than 19 per cent.

On Tuesday, Scoot’s chief executive officer Campbell Wilson signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with NSW Minister for Trade, Tourism and Major Events Stuart Ayres to boost more visitors from Singapore in a two-year-partnership.

Wilson said that Sydney has a special place in Scoot’s heart as it was the very first destination served by the carrier. “The fantastic value, choices and Scootitude that we’ve introduced to the market has helped deliver more Singaporean visitors to Sydney and regional NSW,” he said.

The two parties are currently in discussion for a new campaign following the MOU. Ayres added: “Our next two years in partnership will further reinforce Sydney & Regional New South Wales packages and, of course, Vivid Sydney.” Destination NSW and Scoot have previously worked on various campaigns such as Stretch or Splurge Sydney, featuring presenters Dominic Lau and Paula Malai, as well as the Destination Oz! campaign which saw Singapore popsters The Sam Willows jetting off to Sydney with Scoot.
