Checklist: Kipsan Beck’s Bangkok
SINGAPORE — Bangkok is definitely South-east Asia’s most colourful city. And the man to ask about it is Kipsan Beck, Chief Marketing Officer of Pace Development, the company behind Bangkok’s most exciting project, MahaNakhon. Once it’s completed in two years, the skyline of the Thai capital will be completely changed thanks to this 77-storey building, which is set to be the city’s tallest.

HANG OUT AT MAHANAKHON CUBE. MahaNakhon will house the largest Dean & Deluca in Asia when our retail space, the MahaNakhon Cube, opens at the end of this year. We’ll move the current cafe to the Cube and it’s going to be bigger and better. In fact, the Cube will be a real food hub — we’ll also have Thailand’s first Joel Robuchon L’Atelier and Vogue Club by Conde Nast. These will open early next year. What’s great is you get everything under one roof, from the best shopping to the best dining experience.
REACH FOR THE SKIES. Bangkok has lots of great rooftop bars. It’s a good way to escape the heat and just gives you a very different perspective of the city. My favourite rooftop bar at the moment is Scarlett at the Pullman Hotel G. I usually go for its mocktails and the virgin mojito there is excellent. It also serves very good French food.
TAKE A NEARBY JAUNT. Bangkok can get stifling, so I tend to head out to Jom Tien, which is just 150km south of the city. I love sailing and would take my boat out to get some fresh air. I also love going to Hua Hin. I like Cape Nidhra hotel, which is a wonderful boutique-style property. It’s quiet, which is one of the reasons I’m a fan. The service and food never disappoint and the rooms are lovely, too.
