KUALA LANGAT — Malaysian police are on the hunt for suspects in an armed robbery, with closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage of the brazen incident going viral on social media.

The nearly four-minute video shows eight people in a house in Bandar Saujana Putra in Selangor — three on a couch and five gathered around a table — when three men wearing ski masks enter the frame wielding machetes.

They then force the victims, reportedly aged between 12 and 70, into a room.

One suspect can be seen going upstairs, as two men stand in the living room apparently keeping watch over the victims.

Kuala Langat district's police chief Azizan Tukiman said in a report by Malaysian newspaper The Star that six suspects were involved in the robbery, which occurred at 9.41pm on Tuesday (July 23).

"They tied up seven victims in a room downstairs. Another woman was taken upstairs and told to hand over all their jewellery and valuables, which she complied with," he said on Wednesday.

"No one was hurt in the robbery. The victims managed to free themselves and asked a neighbour for help once the suspects left the scene."

He said the suspects stole a total of RM30,000 (S$9,950) from the victims.

The suspects did not leave fingerprints as they had been wearing gloves, he added. AGENCIES
