18 Singaporeans injured after wooden bridge collapses at Batam resort
SINGAPORE — Eighteen Singaporeans on a holiday in Batam were reportedly injured after the wooden bridge they were on collapsed on Thursday (Nov 7) afternoon.

SINGAPORE — Eighteen Singaporeans on a holiday in Batam were reportedly injured after the wooden bridge they were on collapsed on Thursday (Nov 7) afternoon.
According to Indonesian media outlet Sindonews.com, the Singaporean tourists were taking selfies on the 70m-long wooden bridge at the Montigo Resorts in Nongsa, Batam, when it collapsed in the middle.
Montigo Resorts is owned by Singapore's KOP Limited, a public listed company on the Singapore Exchange.
At the time of the incident, more than 30 tourists were on the bridge.

“The victims fell into the sea and sustained injuries,” said Riau Islands police spokesman S Erlangga.
Indonesian news outlets reported that the victims were taken to the Bhayangkara Hospital for further treatment.
Of the 18 Singaporeans, five received minor treatments while 13 people were warded, Indonesian media said, quoting a hospital administrator.
Singapore's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said it is aware of the incident, and that officers from the Consulate-General in Batam are at Bhayangkara Hospital to render consular assistance. AGENCIES
