S$42 million in CHAS subsidies disbursed in first eight months of the year

SINGAPORE — Some 260,000 Singaporeans benefitted from the Community Health Assist Scheme (CHAS) between this January and August.

During this period, the Health Ministry disbursed S$42 million in CHAS subsidies — more than last year’s total of S$31 million, which was given to 145,000 Singaporeans.

Apart from giving this update in Parliament today, Senior Minister of State for Health Amy Khor also touched on how the government prevents any potential abuse of CHAS — a question tabled by Member of Parliament Baey Yam Keng.

Dr Khor said that her ministry closely monitors CHAS claims submitted by clinics, and the clinics have and will be made to account for any exceptional claims.
