SINGAPORE — A 62-year-old taxi driver was taken to the hospital after his vehicle collided with another car and crashed into a building along Robinson Road on Wednesday (Nov 6) morning.
The police, who were alerted to the accident at about 10am, said that the taxi driver was conscious when taken to the Singapore General Hospital.
The collision happened outside the AIA Tower building and the impact left the other vehicle — a Toyota Altis — lying on its side.
When TODAY arrived at the scene at about 11am, traffic on one lane of the four-lane road was cordoned off due to the accident.
A security officer working nearby said that he heard a loud bang at around 10am.
“When I heard the bang I immediately ran out of the building to check what happened,” Mr Mickey Koh, who is in his 50s, said. “I pulled the taxi driver out and he had some cuts and bleeding on his head.”
Speaking in Mandarin, Mr Koh added that other members of the public used a ladder to reach the driver of the vehicle.

Another eyewitness who declined to give his name said he had just crossed the road and reached the AIA building when he heard the loud crash.
“I turned my head to the left and immediately saw lots of smoke,” said the 57-year-old technician.
He said he did not see any passers-by getting injured and walked away from the scene shortly after.
“Imagine if the car had swerved further into the pavement, luckily there seemed to be nobody along the pathway at that time.”
The two vehicles were removed from the scene at around 11.40am.
Police investigations are ongoing.
