69-year-old e-bike rider killed in car accident along Cantonment Road

SINGAPORE — A 69-year-old woman riding a power assisted bicycle was killed in an accident involving a car along Cantonment Road towards Keppel Road early on Sunday (Jan 5).

The police, who were alerted to the accident at 5.25am, said the woman was pronounced dead at the scene by a paramedic.

SINGAPORE — A 69-year-old woman riding a power assisted bicycle was killed in an accident involving a car along Cantonment Road towards Keppel Road early on Sunday (Jan 5).

The police, who were alerted to the accident at 5.25am, said the woman was pronounced dead at the scene by a paramedic. 

Photos of the accident have made the rounds on social media and show a red Maserati car with a police tent nearby.

A 25-year-old man has been arrested for dangerous driving causing death, the police said, but they added that there was a second driver who left the scene before they arrived.

When asked by TODAY if a search is currently underway for the second driver, the police declined to comment.

Investigations are ongoing.
