‘Coronavirus tax relief’ email a scam, warns Iras

SINGAPORE — An email offering Covid-19 tax relief purportedly from the Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore (Iras) is a scam, the authority warned on Friday (Nov 20).

SINGAPORE — An email offering Covid-19 tax relief purportedly from the Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore (Iras) is a scam, the authority warned on Friday (Nov 20).

The email is titled Coronavirus Tax Relief and Economic Impact Payments, Iras said in an advisory.

The message claims to offer tax help for taxpayers, businesses, tax-exempt organisations and others affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

It also requests that the recipient download a document attached in the email and complete it to obtain more information.

Iras advised the public to ignore the email and to make a police report if they have responded and shared their personal or financial information.
