SINGAPORE — A 65-year-old Singaporean man on Monday (April 13) became the ninth person to die from Covid-19 in Singapore.
The man, identified as Case 1836, died in the afternoon from complications due to an infection by the coronavirus, the Ministry of Health (MOH) said in a press release.
He tested positive for the virus on April 9. Khoo Teck Puat Hospital, where he was warded, has reached out to his family members and is extending assistance to them.
The other eight people who died from Covid-19 here were aged between 64 and 90.
Apart from these cases, a 32-year-old Indian national, who is a long-term pass holder, died last Wednesday while waiting for confirmation on his swab test.
He was confirmed to have the infection after his death. However, MOH said that the man, who was Case 1604, died from ischaemic heart disease, and not due to complications from Covid-19.
MOH said that to date, a total of 586 patients have fully recovered from the infection and have been discharged from hospitals or community isolation facilities.
Of the 1,158 patients who are still in hospital, most are stable or improving. Twenty-nine are in critical condition in the intensive care unit.
A total of 1,165 cases who are clinically well but still test positive for Covid-19 are isolated and cared for at community facilities.
