SINGAPORE — Sports halls in the Singapore Sports Hub will be converted into temporary accommodation to house foreign workers who do not have symptoms of Covid-19.

In a media statement on Friday (April 17), the Singapore Sports Hub said about 800 foreign workers who do not show symptoms of the disease will move into the OCBC Arena halls from Friday.

“This is in response to the Government’s urgent need to house foreign workers who do not have symptoms to alternative living areas,” it said.

The Singapore Sports Hub said strict protocols will be put in place to manage the foreign workers’ movements in the premises.

“They will be required to remain within the arena halls, follow strict health and safety measures, and practise safe distancing during their stay.”

It added that the public’s access to the halls, including the Arena Park, will be restricted during this period.

The Singapore Sports Hub will also be working with its partners to provide catered meals, medical support, sanitation and laundry facilities to the residents.

“Singapore Sports Hub will continue to work closely with Government agencies to ensure that the surrounding neighbourhood, our staff and the foreign workers are safe,” it said.
