SINGAPORE — A restaurant located at the Media Circle near One-north MRT Station has been ordered to shut down for 10 days from Wednesday (Aug 19) onwards for violating safe management measures on several occasions.

In a media release on Monday, the Singapore Food Agency (SFA) said that it has issued an order for Idle restaurant — located at 21 Media Circle, Infinite Studios — to close from Aug 19 to 28.

The authority had received feedback that the restaurant has been selling alcohol as its primary business.

“SFA officers inspected the premises and found that the operator had flouted safe management measures on multiple occasions despite reminders to adhere to these measures,” it said.

The restaurant had allowed groups of more than five people to sit together and mingle with one another, and sold alcoholic beverages after 10.30pm, the agency said.

It reiterated that during Phase Two of Singapore’s reopening after stay-home curbs in April and May, food-and-beverage (F&B) establishments can provide dine-in services, “provided there is no provision of public entertainment”.

“Sale and consumption of alcohol in all F&B establishments is prohibited after 10.30pm daily. This includes consumption at any outdoor refreshment area, tables or chairs owned or managed by such establishment,” SFA said.

Under the Covid-19 (Temporary Measures) Act 2020, first-time offenders found guilty could be jailed up to six months, fined up to S$10,000, or both.

Subsequent offences may involve jail time of up to 12 months, a fine of up to S$20,000, or both.
