SINGAPORE — The Ministry of Health (MOH) said on Monday (July 12) that it is investigating cases of coronavirus infection among Vietnamese social hostesses who had frequented karaoke lounges and clubs that are now operating as food-and-beverage (F&B) outlets, as well as their social contacts.
In a press statement, MOH said that it will conduct special testing operations for workers at three entertainment outlets in Singapore to quickly “uncover any community infection cases”.
The three entertainment venues are:
Supreme KTV at Far East Shopping Centre
Empress KTV at Tanglin Shopping Centre
Club Dolce at the commercial centre of Balestier Point, a mixed-use development which also has apartments
MOH added that it will also extend free Covid-19 testing to members of the public who had visited the above premises between June 29 and July 12.
Those who have visited similar KTV lounges or clubs that are operating as F&B outlets as well as those who have interacted with Vietnamese social hostesses “in any setting” may also get tested for Covid-19 for free.
The ministry added that these visitors and those who have gone to the three premises are advised to monitor their health closely.
They should also minimise social interactions as far as possible for 14 days from their date of visit or interaction.
“They are encouraged to see a doctor immediately if they feel unwell,” MOH added.
The last time the ministry conducted a mandatory testing operation was in late June for workers at VivoCity mall and HarbourFront Centre's retail mall, after people who were infectious with Covid-19 were at VivoCity.
More information on the latest special testing operation can be found on MOH's website.
