SINGAPORE — A man was arrested after barricading himself and his family members in their unit at Blk 114 Ho Ching Road during a joint operation by the Police and the Central Narcotics Bureau.

The authorities were conducting the raid on Tuesday (March 20) at 1pm when the 50-year old man refused to allow them to enter his unit.

"The man had armed himself with a knife and threatened to harm the officers if they enter the unit," the Singapore Police Force said on its Facebook page.

A five-hour standoff ensued.

Two of the man's family members — his father and girlfriend — were in the unit during the ordeal.

Officers from the Special Operations Command later entered the unit at about 5.50pm and arrested the man.

"Substances believed to be controlled drugs and other drug paraphernalia were found in the unit," the police added.

His two family members were unharmed.

The man was arrested for criminal intimidation and suspected drug-related offences.

Police and CNB investigations are ongoing.
