SINGAPORE — The Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) Gallery, which aims to educate visitors on the many roles of the central bank in the Republic’s economy and financial sector, was opened today (Feb 16).
It was launched by Deputy Prime Minister and MAS Chairman Tharman Shanmugaratnam. Speaking at the launch event, Mr Tharman paid tribute to pioneer management and staff who helped lay the foundations of credibility on which the central bank is built.
He added that credibility is one of the most important assets for a central bank and this has helped the MAS develop Singapore into a leading financial centre.
The gallery is comprised of two sections: Insights@MAS and Reflections@MAS. Insights@MAS will provide an overview of the functions of MAS, including how MAS manages official foreign reserves and supervises the financial sector.
Reflections@MAS focuses on MAS as an organisation, and highlights the central bank’s mission and values. Admission to the MAS Gallery is free and self-guided. CHANNEL NEWSASIA
