Man charged with attempted murder of woman in Bedok condo unit

SINGAPORE — A 59-year-old man was charged on Thursday (Dec 31) with the attempted murder of a 48-year-old woman.
Lim Song Chua is accused of strangling Ms Heng Hwee Chay and slashing her with a knife. This happened between about 10pm on Tuesday and 8am on Wednesday at a unit on the ninth storey of Tanamera Crest condominium along Pari Dedap Walk in Bedok.
In a statement on Wednesday, the police said that they received a call for help around 8am and officers who reached the scene found Ms Heng wounded on the floor outside the apartment.
She was conscious when taken to hospital and was in a stable condition. Lim was arrested in the apartment.
The police said that Lim and Ms Heng are "known to each other", but declined to elaborate on their relationship when contacted by TODAY.
If convicted of attempted murder, Lim could face life in prison or a jail term of up to 20 years and a fine.
