SINGAPORE — Hold on to your brollies as periods of widespread thundery showers are forecasted on two or three days in the second half of July, said the Meteorological Service Singapore (MSS) on Tuesday (July 16).

The short-duration thundery showers in the late morning and afternoon experienced in the first half of this month can be expected on a few days over the next week.

Nevertheless, it is generally expected to be dry and occasionally windy because of the monsoon rain band forecasted to lie over northern South-east Asia and northern South China Sea, the weatherman said in its fortnightly update.

Toward the end of the month is when widespread thundery showers are expected due to the large-scale wind convergence over Singapore and the surrounding region.

Overall rainfall this month is still likely to be slightly below normal, said the met service.

The daily temperature over Singapore is expected to range between 25°C and 33°C and daily maximum temperature could reach a high of around 34°C on some days.

The daily maximum temperature in the first two weeks ranged between 31.1°C and 34.5°C, with the highest daily maximum temperature of 34.5°C recorded at Pulau Ubin on July 6.
