SINGAPORE — This year’s National Day Parade (NDP) will feature the largest multimedia set-up in the parade’s history, with LED screens that span three basketball courts and LED towers depicting Singapore’s skyline, providing a vibrant setting for the show segment.
The show aims to celebrate Singaporeans’ can-do spirit with a pop-art theme and the involvement of more than 3,000 performers, based on details shared by the NDP executive committee at a media briefing yesterday.
Among the highlights is a segment celebrating the heartlands, complete with public housing blocks, hawker centres and hawker pushcarts.
The show will also pay tribute to Singapore’s workforce, with performers representing professions in sectors such as healthcare and hospitality. It will end with the traditional fireworks display and red fire flares forming five stars and a moon will light the sky, “symbolic of a giant birthday cake” for the nation, said Colonel David Neo, chairman of the Show Committee, yesterday.
