SINGAPORE — The National Environment Agency (NEA) is investigating an incident where a man flung what appeared to be a used diaper onto a car before driving out of a parking spot at Tampines Mall.
Responding to TODAY’s queries on Tuesday (Aug 27), an NEA spokesperson said that the agency received a piece of feedback about the incident last Saturday.
“We have taken a witness statement and are investigating the incident,” the spokesperson said without elaborating.
“We would like to remind the public that littering has environmental consequences, and keeping our environment clean by not littering is a gracious and socially responsible thing to do,” the spokesperson added.
Facebook user Jonathan Lee captured the incident on camera. In a post on the social-networking site last Saturday, Mr Lee claimed that the man, seen in a black T-shirt, had flung a used diaper onto his car at Tampines Mall earlier that day.
In a video accompanying the post — which has since been shared more than 1,600 times — the man is seen shutting the boot of his Toyota car before throwing a white object resembling a diaper onto the vehicle behind it.
The man then drives his car out of the parking space.
