SINGAPORE — Singapore reported 597 locally transmitted cases of Covid-19 on Monday (Sept 13), with two active clusters added to those that are under close monitoring.

One of the clusters is at Ren Ci nursing home located at Bukit Batok Street 52, the Ministry of Health (MOH) said in its daily update on the coronavirus situation here.

There were 27 new cases added on Monday to make it a total of 28.

The other cluster, with 58 cases, is at Avery Lodge Dormitory located at 2D Jalan Papan in Jurong. Twelve new cases were linked to the workers' dormitory on Monday.

Of the locally transmitted cases, 63 are migrant workers living in dormitories and 157 are seniors over the age of 60.

Including 10 imported cases, there were a total of 607 new infections. 

Of the imported cases, four were detected upon arrival here and six were found to be infected while in isolation or serving stay-home notices.

Singapore has recorded a total of 72,294 coronavirus cases since the start of the pandemic last year.

CLUSTERS UNDER CLOSE MONITORING

MOH said that it is closely monitoring 16 large clusters, the same as the day before.

Giving details on the cluster at Ren Ci nursing home, it said that the disease was spread among staff members and residents. 

Of the 28 infections recorded there, 20 are residents and eight are staff members.

“All other staff and residents located on the affected levels have been tested, and the results so far are negative,” MOH said, adding that the remaining residents and staff members will be tested as well.

As for the cluster at Avery Lodge Dormitory, there is ongoing transmission taking place within the premises among the residents.

The infections were detected through proactive testing and dormitory residents have been placed on a movement restriction order. They are also being tested.

SERIOUSLY ILL

There are 774 Covid-19 patients who are hospitalised as of Monday, down from 780 the day before.

Data from MOH showed that the number of patients who are in serious condition and need oxygen support to help them breathe has risen to 57, up from 54 the day before.

There are also eight patients who are under intensive care, one more than the day before.

Of those who have fallen very ill, 51 are seniors above 60 years old.

Over the last 28 days, the percentage of local cases who had either no or mild symptoms is 98.2 per cent, MOH said.

• Of the 94 cases who required oxygen support, 48 were not fully vaccinated and 46 were fully vaccinated

• Of the six who have been under intensive care, four were not fully vaccinated and two were fully vaccinated

• All of the four patients who succumbed to the disease were not fully vaccinated 

VACCINATIONS

As of Sept 12, 81 per cent of the population has completed their full regimen or received two doses of Covid-19 vaccines, and 84 per cent has received at least one dose.

A total of 8,867,170 doses of Covid-19 vaccines under the national vaccination programme, which include the Pfizer-BioNTech or Comirnaty and Moderna vaccines, have been administered, covering 4,556,377 individuals. 

A total of 4,425,034 people have completed the full vaccination regimen.

For other vaccines recognised under the World Health Organization’s Emergency Use Listing such as Sinovac, 176,860 doses have been administered covering 86,614 individuals.
