SINGAPORE — There were no new confirmed cases of the Wuhan coronavirus in Singapore as of 2pm on Sunday (Feb 2), said the Ministry of Health (MOH).
There is also currently no evidence of community spread of the virus in Singapore.
Singapore has 18 confirmed cases of the Wuhan coronavirus to date, with the latest confirmed case having been announced by MOH on Saturday.
In a press release on Sunday, MOH released more information about the 18th confirmed case.
The patient is a 31-year-old female Chinese national, who arrived in Singapore from Wuhan on Jan 22, and had been reported as asymptomatic during her flight.
According to MOH, the woman had been travelling together with the 12th confirmed case — a female Chinese national from Wuhan who tested positive for the virus on Jan 29.
The 18th case said she had not left her room at Home Suite View Hotel at 12 Lorong 12 Geylang until Jan 31, when she was taken to a government quarantine facility.
After revealing she had a cough from Jan 30, the woman was then taken in an ambulance to the National Centre for Infectious Diseases (NCID) on Jan 31, where she is currently warded in an isolation room.
Tests confirmed that she had been infected by the Wuhan coronavirus at around 2pm on Feb 1.
"None of the 18 previously announced cases is critically ill," said MOH. "All of them remain in stable condition, and most are improving."
The Ministry added that contract tracing for the confirmed cases is ongoing, with 251 close contacts identified as of Feb 2, 12pm.
"Of the 182 who are still in Singapore, 179 have been contacted and are being quarantined or isolated," said MOH, adding that efforts to contact the remaining three close contacts are ongoing.
"As medical practitioners are on the lookout for cases with pneumonia who have recently been in China, Singapore is likely to see more suspect cases that will need to be investigated," said MOH.
