SINGAPORE — In efforts to boost the learning of Chinese language and culture, Singapore Hokkien Huay Kuan (SHHK) Cultural Academy has partnered National University of Singapore (NUS) Centre for Language Studies to launch the Intensive Mandarin Programme (IMP).
IMP is a full-time programme targeted at adult learners who wish to learn or improve their fluency in Mandarin. The programme is divided into six 11-week modules, designed to suit students with different proficiency levels. Classes range from grasping basic grammar skills to business communication skills. Students’ proficiency levels will be determined through a placement test and interview.
NUS Dean of Faculty for Arts and Social Sciences (FASS) Professor Brenda Yeoh said during the signing ceremony today (April 24):“Learning any language is like opening up a new window to the world, it really gets you to the heart and soul of the people.”
The Intensive Mandarin Programme will have its first intake in July. Graduates from the programme will be awarded a Certificate of Proficiency in Chinese Language by NUS Centre for Language Studies. Applications are now open.
