SINGAPORE — The Police Coast Guard recovered a body off Tuas on Wednesday (July 8), the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) said.

In a news release the same day, the MPA said that it was informed by the Malaysian authorities on Tuesday at about 8am that three people had fallen overboard from a craft about 2.1 nautical miles off Tuas.

MPA said that it then immediately carried out search-and-rescue operations involving two MPA patrol craft, one Police Coast Guard craft and one Republic of Singapore Navy vessel.

“At about 8.45am (on Wednesday), MPA received an update from the Police Coast Guard that they had sighted a body. They have recovered the body and the relevant Singapore authorities are establishing if the body is one of the persons who had fallen overboard.”

The authority said that it continues to coordinate the search-and-rescue operation with the coast guards and the navy for the other missing people.

“MPA has also been issuing navigational safety broadcasts to vessels in the vicinity to keep a lookout and to report any sightings of the missing persons,” it added.
