Fuji Xerox yesterday confirmed that the police visited its office on Thursday and seized a desktop computer and a server for forensic investigation.
This came after it was revealed that monthly statements of Standard Chartered’s 647 private banking customers were illegally accessed from a server at Fuji Xerox after it was hacked.
The firm said it has engaged an external forensic team and investigations are ongoing. “A forensic team conducted a thorough review and no other customers were impacted,” said Mr Paul Han, Associate Director of Fuji Xerox Global Services.
Asked how the breach went undetected for so long, he said “investigations are ongoing and we are not at liberty to comment on this”.
As for whether its security system sends out an alert when a breach is detected, he said the company has taken “all appropriate action to protect the integrity of our other server systems”.
The firm declined to provide more details, but added that it has increased vigilance and strengthened its security infrastructure.
DataPost, a Singapore Post subsidiary that provides printing services to a bank here, said it has stringent measures in place to safeguard consumer data, including the encryption of all sensitive data. SUMITA SREEDHARAN
