SINGAPORE — The Seletar Airport is closed to all departing and arriving flights until 11pm, and the closure may be extended subject to visibility conditions, said the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore and Changi Airport Group today (June 20).

The closure started at 11am. During this closure, two arrivals were diverted to other airports, and eight departures were cancelled.

“Today’s visibility, fluctuating between 700m and 1,200m, is below Seletar Airport’s minimum operating requirement of 1,500m. The airport, which operates under visual meteorological conditions, is therefore not able to accept aircraft arrivals and departures as pilots would not have a clear view of the runway,” said the statement.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore and Changi Airport Group are closely monitoring the visibility conditions before reopening Seletar Airport for flight operations, the statement said.
