SINGAPORE — A website technical glitch that its service vendor has been unable to resolve rendered some of the Central Provident Fund (CPF) Board’s e-services unavailable for at least three days, before some of the services resumed last night.
After the CPF disabled its online service on Monday due to the technical issues, CPF members were unable to access services such as checking their CPF records, or making payments. A notice on the CPF website stated that online services were unavailable due to “technical issues” from a recent website update, although employers could still continue to make CPF e-submissions.
Last night, in response to media queries, the CPF Board said some of its online services have resumed, including the checking of balances and transaction histories.
The website’s informational pages and employer CPF e-submissions are unaffected.
“We are working with our IT vendor to fully resume online services as soon as possible. During this time, members may experience a slower response time,” a CPF Board spokesperson said. The CPF Board did not respond to queries on what led to the technical problems.
Last year, 56.6 million transactions were performed on the CPF Board’s electronic service platforms, according to the board’s annual report.
As a result of the glitch, Mr Peter Lim, 50, a counsellor, was unable to download his CPF statements, which he needed for a Medifund application, and he had gone to the CPF service centre in Woodlands on Monday. Fortunately, the hospital eventually waived the need for Mr Lim’s statements as his was a renewal case.
“I was also surprised that CPF did not say the expected date that the issue will be resolved or what exactly caused this problem,” said Mr Lim.
The CPF Board is extending their queue ticket issuance timing to 5pm — from 4pm previously — on weekdays at service services at Bishan, Jurong, Robinson Road, Tampines and Woodlands. CPF call centres’ operating hours will also be extended to 6pm on weekdays. Ng Jing Yng
