SINGAPORE — The police arrested two more Singaporean men on Sunday (June 21) for their suspected involvement in a case of affray at 21 Lorong Mambong on Friday night.

Both men are aged 22, police said in a statement on Sunday.

A drunk 26-year-old Singaporean man was earlier arrested on Friday for causing annoyance to the public under liquor control regulations at the same location. The man will also be investigated for affray.

Police said the three men are known to one another and had been dining in restaurants at the location.

Police said the trio will also be investigated for possible breaches of safe distancing measures under Covid-19 regulations.

Photos have appeared on social media of large crowds along Lorong Mambong on Friday, the first day Singapore entered Phase Two of its reopening.

One restaurant, British Indian Curry Hut, was ordered to shut by the authorities for failing to ensure its customers adhere to safe management practices.

Mr Khader Basha Ghouse Basha, 38, the general manager of the restaurant, told TODAY that two fights around the neighbouring premises, one at around 8pm and another at around 9.30pm, had also led to crowding in front of his establishment.

“Because of the fight, all the crowd gathered in front of our restaurant. The person who took the picture is assuming that people are waiting to patronise us, which is not right,” said Mr Basha.
