From August, Nanyang Technological University (NTU) will offer two new part-time modular certificate programmes in power and clean energy, and offshore engineering.
These short-term programmes will comprise four to five courses and cater to working professionals looking to improve their knowledge on industry-specific topics. Students will be able to earn course credits through the programme, which are transferrable if they choose to enrol in a degree programme later.
NTU senior associate provost (undergraduate education), Professor Kam Chan Hin, said: “Once you get the certificate, we’re hoping that some of the students will think, ‘Hey it’s not so bad, I’ve already earned 15 to 18 credits, which is 20 per cent of a degree, why not I just sign up for the rest?’”
He added that a minimum of 30 students are required to start a class. VALERIE KOH
