SINGAPORE — A 34-year-old Malaysian woman was charged in court today (Nov 23) for voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means, leading to the death of a 76-year-old retiree in Yishun over the weekend.
Court documents stated that Woo Mui Mee had used a paper cutter to inflict incise wounds on Mr Wong Keng Woo’s left forehand at about 10pm last Saturday.
The police were called to the scene at Blk 114 Yishun Ring Road shortly after, while the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) were activated at 10:55pm.
A trail of blood was found along the common corridor. After forcing their way into the second-storey flat, the SCDF pronounced the victim — believed to be Woo’s landlord — dead at 11:38pm.
Woo remains in remand until her next hearing date on Nov 30.
If convicted, she could be fined, jailed up to seven years, or both.
CORRECTION: In an earlier version of the article, we reported that Woo Mui Mee was charged for voluntarily causing grievous hurt. This is incorrect. Woo was charged for voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means. We are sorry for the error.
