SINGAPORE – Over 40 youth footballers were given a treat on Monday (April 10) as they got to meet Manchester United icons Gary Neville and Ryan Giggs at a football clinic organised by Home United.
The event, which was co-organised by Rowsley Limited and supported by the Singapore Land Authority (SLA) and Teens Network Club @ MacPherson, saw the two former Red Devils showcasing their skills to the participants.
They also gave a sharing on their life values and work ethics to the youths, who were aged between 11 and 15.
The clinic, which was conducted by Home United’s coaches and players such as goalkeeper Hassan Sunny and Hariss Harun, was held at the Home United Youth Football Academy (Hyfa) at Mattar Road.
It is part of the S.League club’s community outreach programme, which aims to reach out to youths and provide them with opportunities to learn values such as teamwork, commitment and discipline through the medium of football.
Speaking about the event, guest-of-honour Amrin Amin, the Parliamentary Secretary for the Ministry of Home Affairs, said: “I am glad that the youths enjoyed themselves during this event. I hope that they have not only learnt the technical skillsets, but have also understood that values such as discipline, resilience and teamwork are important attributes to succeed in football and in life.
“I am also heartened that the collaboration between Home United and the various MacPherson community organisations has provided this excellent opportunity to youths, for them to get up close and personal with their favourite football players.”
