KUALA LUMPUR - The LionsXII winless streak away from home continued today, after they were held to a 1-1 draw at bottom club Negeri Sembilan.

Brazilian forward Fabio, who made his Negeri Sembilan debut tonight, was a constant thorn in the LionsXII defence in the first half and opened the scoring in the 15th minute when took advantage of an error by Singapore midfielder Isa Halim to open put the home side in front.

That sparked the league leader’s defence into life, and striker Fazrul Nawaz levelled the scores less than five minutes later after showing great skill to control a cross before firing the ball past Negeri goalkeeper Kaharuddin Abdul Rahman.

The LionsXII were on the back foot for the rest of the first half, and that trend continued into the second half.

Negeri Sembilan mounted attack after attack but the LionsXII defence held strong, with Isa Halim doing well to neutralise the threat from Fabio.

Negeri were then reduced to ten men in the 73rd minute when defender Ghani Rahman received a straight red card for a two-footed tackle on LionsXII winger Nazrul Nazari.

But the LionsXII were unable to make their one-man advantage count, and both sides shared the points as the referee blew the final whistle.

The LionsXII next match will be against ATM FA on Saturday, April 20 at the Jalan Besar stadium.
